As I sit by the fire on this frigid Michigan day, I find myself finally exhaling. The last few weeks have been full of creative momentum — holiday projects, orders, Studio Sunday filming, and all the joyful chaos that comes with December. Today, though, the pace softened. And with that shift came something else I haven’t felt in a while: reflection.
For me, it arrived in the form of music.
Every year, I’m moved in a way I can’t quite explain by hearing Messiah. It’s more than beautiful melodies — it’s the sweep of emotion, the rise and fall, the way certain passages seem to find you no matter where you are in life. I shared a bit of the music on my personal Instagram this week because it touched me so deeply. Not in a public, polished way — but in the quiet, personal way that art so often does.
And maybe that’s what creativity is for many of us during this season.A moment of connection. A breath. A place where beauty meets our everyday life and reminds us that meaning still exists beneath the noise.

This week in the studio, I’ve been slowing down long enough to appreciate the gentle details — the texture of ribbon, the soft hum of the heater, the comfort of familiar supplies waiting to be turned into something new. There’s something grounding about working with our hands when the world feels cold and busy.
As we move deeper into December, I’m reminded that creativity isn’t just about making things. It’s also about feeling things.Letting ourselves be moved.Letting art — whether music or paper or ink — find us where we are.
If you’re feeling the weight or the wonder of this season, I hope you give yourself a moment to pause…to sit with what’s stirring in you…to let beauty do its quiet work.
Winter can be cold, but creativity — and the moments that move us — bring warmth of their own.
May the season bring you small joys, meaningful moments, and room to breathe.
